seo-page Review: A Current Checklist That Needs Its Suite
We installed the single-page module of claude-seo on its own and ran it on our homepage. Its checklist is current and found real issues, but its first scripted check fails outside the suite and its score card has no formula.
We assess AI agent skills by installing them, running them against real work, and reading the source. We don't accept payment for reviews.
How we know
We ran this skill against real work. The runs are listed below, including how it installed — or why it didn't.
Run on the same site (trustedskills.dev) and with the same setup as our first batch of twelve SEO skills: no paid SEO data connected. One run on one site is one data point, not a benchmark. We tested this module installed on its own, which is what the registry command gives you. Our separate review of the full claude-seo suite covers the complete install.
Quick verdict
Use With Cautionseo-page is the single-page module of the claude-seo suite. Installed on its own, it is a well-kept checklist: title, meta, headings, Open Graph, schema and images, with current rules such as not recommending FAQ or HowTo rich results. On our homepage its checklist found five real issues. But its first scripted check fails outside the suite, a file it points to is missing, and it asks for a score card without saying how to score. If you want this, install the whole claude-seo suite.
What we ran it on
The task
Analyse the on-page SEO of the trustedskills.dev homepage for the keyword "AI agent skills", and say what to fix.
What happened
npx skills add agricidaniel/claude-seo --skill seo-page installed it first time. It installs two files: SKILL.md and a licence.
The skill's first scripted check (does the meta description just repeat the title?) calls ${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/scripts/claude-seo. Outside the claude-seo plugin that variable is empty, and the command failed with exit code 127. The run did the check by hand. The word-count check points to quality-gates.md, which is also not installed, so the page's word count had no minimum to be judged against.
Working from the checklist and the raw HTML, the run found: a 70-character title and a 178-character meta description, both over the skill's ranges; an H1 ("Every agent skill, in one place.") without the target phrase; no og:url tag; and no structured data for the visible "Top skills" list. We re-checked all five on the live page and they are correct. Its suggested ItemList JSON-LD used only the names and links shown on the page.
It also reported the homepage canonical (https://trustedskills.dev without a trailing slash) as a mismatch. For a root URL those are the same address, so that finding is not a real issue. It rated the missing og:url as High priority, which overstates it.
The score card said 81/100. The skill gives no formula for any of its five scores, so the run had to invent one and document it.
Environment: Claude Code subagent (Sonnet 5) with the installed SKILL.md loaded as its instructions. Tools: WebFetch, WebSearch, Bash (curl, node). No claude-seo plugin scripts, no DataForSEO, no API keys, no Search Console.
What it does well
Current schema rules
It says never to recommend HowTo, or FAQ for rich results, and gives the May 2026 retirement. Google's own documentation confirms FAQ rich results stopped showing on 7 May 2026.
A checklist specific enough to act on
It names the four Open Graph tags it expects, the H1 rules and the image checks. Following that list alone found the missing og:url and the missing ItemList on our page.
Actively maintained
The source was updated on the day we tested it, and its lazy-loading check knows about JavaScript lazy-loaders, so it won't flag images they handle.
Where it stops
Its first script fails when installed alone
The title-versus-description check calls a helper through CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT, which only exists inside the claude-seo plugin. Installed with the registry command, the call fails with exit code 127.
Points to a file it doesn't ship
Word-count minimums are in quality-gates.md, which lives in the suite's main skill. Without it you can count words but can't judge them.
A score card with no formula
It asks for five scores out of 100 with bar charts, but gives no weights or method. Our run had to make one up, so the 81/100 it gave says more about that method than about the page.
No rule against invented schema
It asks the agent to find missing schema opportunities, but never says to mark up only what the page shows. Our run stayed on the page because our brief told it to.
Our own listing summary is wrong
The registry summary for this skill says it optimises agricultural content. It doesn't. It is a general single-page SEO check.
Who should use it
People who already run claude-seo
Inside the full suite its scripts and reference files are present, and it is a quick way to check one URL.
A structured page checklist
Even alone, the checklist is current and covers the on-page basics in one pass.
Probably not for you if…
Anyone installing it on its own for a scored audit. The score has no method behind it, and one of its checks can't run. Install the full claude-seo suite instead.
