About This Skill

What it does

The Ship Learn Next skill transforms learning content, like transcripts or articles, into actionable plans for iterative development and practice. It breaks down advice and lessons into concrete “reps” – small, shippable iterations – to facilitate a learn-by-doing approach. The core principle is that consistent, practical application (100 reps) is more valuable than extensive study. This skill helps users move from passively consuming information to actively implementing it.

When to use it

  • You have a transcript, article, or tutorial and want to put the advice into practice.
  • You need help turning educational content into a structured plan.
  • You're struggling to break down large ideas into manageable steps.
  • You’ve consumed learning material (e.g., "I watched X") and are unsure of what to do next.
  • You want to extract specific implementation steps from provided content.

Key capabilities

  • Content Analysis: Reads and analyzes user-provided files (transcripts, articles, notes) to identify key takeaways.
  • Lesson Extraction: Identifies main advice, actionable principles, skills being taught, and relevant examples from the content.
  • Quest Definition: Helps users define specific, achievable learning goals framed as "quests" with clear success criteria.
  • Rep Design: Breaks down quests into small, shippable iterations ("reps") that can be completed within 1-7 days.
  • Rep Planning: Structures each rep with defined goals, success criteria, learning objectives, resource needs, timelines, action steps and reflection questions.

Example prompts

  • "Can you turn this transcript into a Ship Learn Next plan?" (providing file path)
  • “I read an article about cold outreach; can you help me make it actionable?”
  • "Based on these notes, what's the smallest thing I could build to start learning?"

Tips & gotchas

  • The skill focuses on actionable content and avoids summarizing everything or including theoretical information.
  • Quests should be specific and measurable (e.g., "Ship 10 cold outreach messages and get 2 responses"). Vague goals like "learn about sales" are not suitable.
  • Each rep is designed to be small enough to avoid intimidation but large enough to provide meaningful learning.
