About This Skill
What it does
The Decision Toolkit helps users systematically analyze options and arrive at well-reasoned conclusions by guiding them through a structured evaluation process. It creates interactive tools, rather than making decisions for the user, empowering them to make informed choices. The toolkit utilizes progressive disclosure to reduce cognitive load and incorporates multiple perspectives to reveal potential blind spots and biases.
When to use it
This skill is helpful when facing:
- Collaboration or partnership decisions
- Career changes or job offers
- Significant investments of time or money
- Project prioritization
- Technology or tool selection
- Choices with multiple factors and uncertainty
It's not suitable for trivial decisions, emergency responses, or situations where the user simply needs information.
Key capabilities
- Creates interactive HTML guides to facilitate decision-making.
- Guides users through a nine-step process covering context, principles, timing, stakeholders, biases, opportunity cost, scenarios, questions, and synthesis.
- Offers different analytical styles: numerical analysis, intuitive prompts, visual aids (diagrams), and verbal summaries.
- Provides accessibility features including screen reader support, keyboard navigation, high contrast, reduced motion options, and mobile-friendly design.
Example prompts
- "I need to evaluate a potential partnership opportunity."
- "Help me prioritize my projects for the next quarter."
- "What are the risks associated with investing in this new venture?"
Tips & gotchas
- The toolkit is designed to guide, not decide. The user remains responsible for making the final choice.
- It's best suited for choices involving multiple factors and uncertainty rather than simple or urgent decisions.
- Be prepared to consider different perspectives and potential biases during the evaluation process.
