About This Skill
What it does
The Product Appeal Analyzer helps determine if users will want a product, not just find it useful. It assesses whether a product's messaging and presentation resonate with target audiences by evaluating its emotional appeal and perceived fit. The tool uses a framework called the "Desirability Triangle" to identify areas for improvement in marketing materials like landing pages and app store listings.
When to use it
This skill is valuable when:
- Evaluating landing pages, product pages, or app store listings.
- Positioning a product against alternatives.
- Crafting messaging, tone, and visual identity direction.
- Assessing emotional resonance with target personas.
- Performing pre-launch analysis to predict conversion rates ("will this convert?").
Key capabilities
- Desirability Triangle Assessment: Evaluates Identity Fit, Problem Urgency, and Trust Signals.
- 5-Second Test Analysis: Quickly assesses if key elements (What is it?, Who's it for?, Core Promise?, Next Action?) are clear to visitors within 5 seconds.
- Persona Identification & Scoring: Guides users through identifying target personas and scoring them based on the Desirability Triangle components.
- Actionable Feedback: Provides a scoring system (0-10) with corresponding actions, from "Ship it" to "Start over."
Example prompts
- “Analyze this landing page [URL] for product appeal.”
- “What are the key identity signals missing from this app store description?”
- “Run the 5-second test on this product page [URL].”
Tips & gotchas
- This tool is not designed for UX friction audits, visual design execution, A/B testing implementation, market size estimation, or feature comparison matrices. Use specialized tools for those tasks instead.
- The "Desirability Triangle" framework requires careful consideration of each vertex (Identity Fit, Problem Urgency, Trust Signals) to identify areas needing improvement.
- For the 5-second test, ensure you observe someone unfamiliar with the product and record their verbatim responses without coaching.
